The Centre for Cancer Immunotherapy (CCIT) is conducting research into how our immune system can be used to combat cancer. The centre has become established as a significant player internationally. Professor Inge Marie Svane, a senior consultant at Herlev Hospital, tells of a breakthrough in the fight against the aggressive birthmark cancer that used to be tantamount to a death sentence. The centre received the Global Excellence award in 2013.
